Oh, Armadillo! Looks like the nine-banded one (dasypus novencinctus), which I remember so well from my Texas garden. I lived once in the Texas Hill Country, also known as Texscany (from its slight resembrance of Tuscany) outside Austin. Behind my Texas-size ( fort those not familiar with things Texas = huge) house and yard, there was an untouched prerie - and Armadillos came from there to munch on the results of my gardening labor. :-)). According to neighbors I was supposed to be careful not to corner them, as they might attack...but never heard on anyone earing them... and in Texas I even tried rattlesnake in one country eatery (tastes like chicken - in casze you wonder)... but chicken fried steak was the most typical Texas fare.
Not really, it is more 'gamey', a very rich and sweet meat, more like pheasant than chicken. (You cook it with the shell on) I don't like to eat meat but will try anything someone cooks specially for me,....... except monkey.
what a strange beast!
